India’s new-age beauty and personal care brands posted strong revenue growth in FY26, with some doubling or even tripling sales. According to The Economic Times, products tailored to niche needs, influencer-led marketing aimed at young consumers and the reach of quick commerce helped these brands challenge larger players.
Growth is also spreading beyond big cities: one founder told ET that shoppers in Tier II and III cities now consume the same content as those in Tier I.
Meanwhile, several earlier-generation D2C brands are facing the challenge of scaling at a more mature stage.
Explaining why newer brands are performing differently from those launched about a decade ago, Ashish Dhir, Senior Director, Consumer & Retail, 1Lattice, said:
“New-age D2C brands are capturing demand by focusing on niche segments and solving specific consumer problems, while larger mass-market brands may not be growing as fast.”
