Increasing smartphone penetration and improved access to digital platforms have empowered young entrepreneurs in Tier 2 and 3 cities to leverage technology for innovative solutions. Success stories like Razorpay, Shopkirana, and DeHaat, all originating from these cities, exemplify the immense potential that lies within these emerging startup ecosystems.

The top ten emerging hubs beyond Tier 1 cities include Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Lucknow, Surat, Thiruvananthapuram, and Vadodara. Among these, the IT services sector leads the way, accounting for approximately 12.6% of startups recognized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade. Moreover, this sector also contributes significantly to job creation, with an estimated 14% share in employment generation. Healthcare and life sciences sectors also play a crucial role in this growing entrepreneurial landscape.
